The chair of the Herkimer County Legislature, Robert Hollum, was arrested over the weekend and charged with a drug offense.
According to an Ilion Police Department representative, Hollum, 49, was arrested at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Sunday. He received appearance tickets for criminal possession of a controlled substance and having an open container in a motor vehicle.
Hollum represents District 4 in the legislature, which he chairs.
In a statement on Monday, Vice Chair Peter Campione acknowledged the incident involving “personnel within the county,” noting that the Ilion Police are handling the matter and that the legislature “will have no further comment on this issue at the time.”
