On May 14, Iran’s judiciary chief announced that former Agriculture Minister Javad Sadatinejad had been sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in a corruption case related to the importation of animal feed. Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei did not specify when the verdict was issued or whether Sadatinejad had begun serving his sentence. Sadatinejad, who was appointed by President Ebrahim Raisi in September 2021, was dismissed in April 2023 due to increasing criticism over unfulfilled promises and corruption allegations.
