EY, a global professional services firm, and SAP, a leading enterprise application software company, have announced an extended alliance to collaborate on solutions and services that facilitate climate and sustainability-related action and reporting for clients.
This partnership is a response to the increasing challenges related to sustainability and climate that both organizations aim to address. EY has recently committed to investing in services and solutions that help clients profitably decarbonize their businesses and address sustainability challenges. Meanwhile, SAP introduced SAP Cloud for Sustainable Enterprises in 2022, bringing together a portfolio of solutions designed to help businesses holistically manage sustainability performance, and updated its SAP Sustainability Control Tower platform to enable users to record and report ESG data and set and monitor sustainability targets. SAP also launched its green ledger initiative to provide ledger-based carbon accounting, offering actual and auditable data to track and manage emissions.
Under this collaboration, EY and SAP will work together to provide streamlined reporting, improved operational performance, and align carbon footprint and financial data for clients. They will also assist clients in navigating changing regulations and incentive opportunities in the sustainability and climate space.
As part of this partnership, EY professionals will advise SAP and clients on the design and blueprint for the next generation of software solutions to develop more impactful climate, nature, and social impact strategies.
The collaboration also involves coordinating software and services to provide extended sustainability functionality, including EY solutions leveraging SAP Sustainability Control Tower to transition from sustainability recording to reporting and action. This includes reporting against multiple regulatory frameworks and integrating sustainability metrics into internal performance management processes. Additionally, SAP S/4HANA Cloud will be used to incorporate environmental considerations into business processes.
Both SAP and EY will work on realizing SAP’s green ledger concept, collaborating with select clients to further develop the requirements and analytics needed to move from estimated emissions accounting to more accurate carbon footprinting. EY will also provide real-time legal and regulatory updates on sustainability incentives, carbon regimes, environmental taxes, and tax exemptions to support SAP’s Responsible Design and Production solution.
In summary, EY and SAP are enhancing their alliance to offer comprehensive solutions and technology to help clients address climate and sustainability challenges and integrate sustainability data into their business processes.
