Money LaunderingUK Government Commits £5 Million to Support Somali Security Forces in Counterterrorism Efforts

The UK government has pledged £5 million (about $6.2 million) in funding to support Somali security forces in their efforts to combat terrorism and stabilize areas that have been liberated from the al-Shabaab terrorist group. The funding will be provided to the UN Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) Trust Fund and will be used for non-lethal logistical support, including food, shelter, and medevac services, for the Somali security forces. The aim is to bolster their capacity and effectiveness as they take on more responsibility following the African Union’s withdrawal from Somalia. The funding will also help maintain operations against al-Shabaab.
