London’s Climate FinTech Startup Opna Secures $6.5 Million to Reinvent Carbon Markets

ESGLondon's Climate FinTech Startup Opna Secures $6.5 Million to Reinvent Carbon Markets

Opna, a London-based climate FinTech firm, formerly known as Salt, has recently gained attention in the finance sector. The startup secured $6.5 million (£5.2 million) in seed funding, led by VC firm Atomico and with participation from previous investors including Pale Blue Dot, MCJ Collective, Angelinvest, and Tiny VC.

Founded in February 2022, Opna aims to rebuild trust in the voluntary carbon markets. These markets allow carbon emitters to purchase carbon credits generated from projects that reduce or offset greenhouse gas emissions. Opna offers a unique platform for corporations to discover, finance, and manage such carbon projects.

Opna plans to use the funding to increase platform awareness, expand the range of available carbon projects, enhance its technology, and hire new talent.
