SanctionsUS Imposes Sanctions on Chinese and Canadian Entities Over Fentanyl Chemicals, China Protests

The United States has imposed sanctions on 25 individuals and entities in China, along with three entities in Canada, in connection with the production and distribution of chemicals associated with the fentanyl crisis.

China responded by strongly opposing these sanctions, stating that they infringe upon the lawful rights and interests of the affected entities and individuals. Beijing argued that the fentanyl crisis in the United States is primarily rooted within the country itself and has lodged formal objections with the United States.

The Biden administration has made combatting the fentanyl crisis a key priority, as this synthetic opioid has been linked to a significant number of deaths in recent years.
