ESGGoogle Joins Amex GBT and Shell Aviation's Sustainable Aviation Fuel Program

Google has partnered with American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) and Shell Aviation in their sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) initiative. This collaboration is aligned with Google’s goal of achieving net-zero operations by 2030 and contributing to global climate solutions. Michael Terrell, Google’s Sr. Director of Climate and Energy, emphasized SAF’s importance in decarbonizing the aviation sector. The SAF program, featuring major companies like Google, Aon, Bank of America, Delta, Cathay Pacific, JetBlue, and Japan Airlines, showcases how the private sector can drive aviation’s transition to net zero. The program, supported by the Avelia blockchain platform, seeks to scale the emerging SAF market by co-funding costs and encouraging capital investment.
