The Ministry of Interior has announced the final court ruling in the corruption case involving Lieutenant General Khalid bin Qarar Al-Harbi, the former Director of Public Security.
The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) confirmed that it had launched an investigation into Al-Harbi and referred him to the appropriate court. He was convicted on multiple charges, including abuse of power.
Al-Harbi was found guilty of bribery, forgery, and related offenses, receiving a 10-year prison sentence and a SR1,000,000 fine, which will be transferred to the state treasury.
This ruling follows Royal Decree No. A/60 (dated 30/1/1443H), which ordered Al-Harbi’s dismissal and investigation for offenses such as embezzlement, bribery, forgery, and abuse of power for personal benefit.
He was also convicted of exploiting his position for personal gain, manipulating government contracts, and misappropriating public funds. For these crimes, he received an additional 10-year prison sentence.
The court also ordered the recovery of SR10,084,303 in bribes and SR2,827,000 in embezzled funds, which will be returned to the state treasury.
Al-Harbi was further convicted of using his position for personal benefit and exploiting government contracts. He must return gifts and financial aid worth SR175,000, provided to his relatives as bribes. Additionally, two agricultural properties obtained illegally, along with SR584,000, will be confiscated and deposited into the state treasury.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed the Saudi government’s firm stance on safeguarding public funds and combating corruption.
