On Tuesday, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez was found guilty on all 16 criminal charges, including bribery, in his corruption trial at Manhattan federal court, marking a significant fall from grace for the influential New Jersey Democrat.

Prominent Democrats, such as U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, promptly urged Menendez, who has been in the Senate since 2006 and previously escaped conviction in a 2017 corruption trial due to a deadlocked jury, to resign.
