Sri Lanka’s Police Minister Tiran Alles Denies Ownership of London Properties Amid Pandora Papers Revelations

Fraud, Bribery & CorruptionSri Lanka's Police Minister Tiran Alles Denies Ownership of London Properties Amid Pandora Papers Revelations

Sri Lanka’s Police Minister, Tiran Alles, refuted accusations of using shell companies to own London properties following revelations in the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists’ (ICIJ) Pandora Papers. The ICIJ’s analysis revealed that Alles, a media mogul and politician, owns two British Virgin Islands companies with London properties. The Pandora Papers, comprising 11.9 million leaked documents, exposed global financial dealings involving politicians, celebrities, and business figures. Alles dismissed the allegations, attributing them to local sources and ignoring ICIJ’s email inquiry. He expressed contentment with scrutinizing local posts he believes contained false information. Alles’ companies were found to own London properties purchased in 2006 and 2008. The funds for the BVI companies reportedly originated from Alles’ business endeavors. Alles, who entered politics in 2010, serves as Sri Lanka’s public security minister. When asked about ICIJ’s findings, he dismissed them as mere international journalists, refusing further comment.
