Human RightsUnder Secretary Zeya’s Travel to the Czech Republic and Moldova

Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya will travel to Prague, Czech Republic and Chisinau, Moldova, from November 27-December 2, 2023. In Prague, she will lead the U.S. delegation to the International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance (IRFBA) Ministerial Conference, where she will give remarks on U.S. efforts to promote and protect religious freedom worldwide. Under Secretary Zeya will also meet with senior government officials, partners, and youth leaders to deepen cooperation on our shared values of democracy, human rights, and cultural preservation, and see firsthand the critical humanitarian work being done to support refugees from Ukraine.

In Chisinau, Under Secretary Zeya will participate in the launch of the Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) project. This project, a collaboration between the Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and the Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs, will upgrade Moldova’s law enforcement communications system and build domestic and border security resilience. She will also meet with senior government officials on U.S.-Moldovan cooperation on rule of law and anti-corruption reforms, advancing human rights, and increasing protections for marginalized groups.
