Carbo Culture Raises $18M in Series A Funding for Biochar Carbon Removal Technology

ESGCarbo Culture Raises $18M in Series A Funding for Biochar Carbon Removal Technology
Finnish-American climate solutions provider Carbo Culture has secured $18 million in a Series A funding round led by GenZero and True Ventures. The funds will support the advancement and commercialization of its biochar carbon removal technology. Carbo Culture utilizes patented technology to convert waste biomass into biochar, a solid form that permanently stores carbon. The process, called Carbolysis, not only produces biochar but also syngas, offering additional applications in producing ammonia, methanol, or fuel. The company, which commissioned one of Europe’s largest biochar plants in August 2023, plans to use the investment to develop commercial-scale projects. Carbo Culture aims to contribute to the global carbon removal industry and address climate change challenges.
