Coca-Cola India Introduces 100% Recycled Plastic Bottles for Smaller Pack Sizes

ESGCoca-Cola India Introduces 100% Recycled Plastic Bottles for Smaller Pack Sizes

Coca-Cola India has introduced 100% recycled plastic (rPET) bottles for its smaller pack sizes, including 250 ml and 750 ml bottles. These recycled plastic bottles, excluding caps and labels, are produced by Coca-Cola’s bottling partners, Moon Beverages Ltd. and SLMG Beverages Ltd., using 100% food-grade rPET material. They feature a “Recycle Me Again” call to action and a “100% recycled PET bottle” label to raise consumer awareness.

This initiative builds on Coca-Cola India’s launch of a 100% recycled one-liter bottle for its Kinley packaged drinking water brand in June. The Coca-Cola Company has now introduced 100% recycled plastic bottles in over 40 markets, aligning with its “World Without Waste” goal to achieve bottles with 50% recycled content by 2030. This sustainability platform also includes aims to collect and recycle the equivalent of a bottle or can for every one sold globally by 2030 and make 100% of its packaging recyclable by 2025.

Coca-Cola has established drop-off points and Reverse Vending Machines to facilitate bottle recycling and launched the ‘Return and Recycle’ initiative with Zepto to gather PET bottles directly from consumers, ensuring traceability. In India, Coca-Cola introduced the Affordable Small Sparkling Pack (ASSP) for the 250 ml PET bottle to reduce plastic usage in PET production for sparkling products by up to 40%.
