A report from the United Nations Global Compact and Accenture highlights the need for collaborative and credible business action, supported by policymakers, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. While 94% of business leaders view the SDGs as a global vision, only 15% of the SDG targets are on track, 48% have weak and insufficient progress, and 37% have stalled or gone into reverse. The report outlines ten pathways for businesses to take action on the SDGs and have an outsized impact. It also calls for consistent sustainability reporting and disclosure mandates, adjustment of national minimum wages to equal living wage levels, and stronger environmental protection incentives. Business leaders also highlighted challenges like unclear measurement resources, limited access to data, and a skills shortfall in the workforce.
