UK Government Partners with Global Green Growth Institute to Drive Climate Finance Projects in Pacific Islands

ESGUK Government Partners with Global Green Growth Institute to Drive Climate Finance Projects in Pacific Islands

The UK Government has announced a partnership between the British High Commission (BHC) in Suva, Fiji, and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to implement climate finance projects in Pacific Island countries. This two-year collaboration aims to drive sustainable finance initiatives in the Pacific region, focusing on decarbonization, poverty reduction, and addressing the impacts of climate change.

Key commitments of the partnership include appointing climate finance experts within governmental roles to lead sustainable projects and conducting strategic feasibility studies to gain insights for pursuing sustainable development goals.

If the partnership’s initial phase proves successful, the second phase will involve the GGGI overseeing investments with support from the UK’s Small Island Developing States Capacity and Resilience Programme. The Global Green Growth Institute is an international organization that promotes sustainable economic growth and development while addressing climate change and other environmental challenges.
