Meta Revises Policy for CBD and Hemp Ads on Facebook and Instagram

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has updated its advertising policy to allow limited promotion of CBD and hemp products. Under the new rules, non-ingestible CBD items containing up to 0.03% THC can be advertised if they meet specific criteria, including certification by Legitscript and compliance with local regulations. Non-ingestible hemp products can also be advertised in select regions without prior authorization, as long as local laws are followed.

Virginia Governor Rejects Recreational Marijuana Legalization

Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia has firmly expressed his disinterest in legalizing recreational cannabis in the state. Despite prior legislation signed by former Governor Ralph Northam to legalize adult-use marijuana, the current administration’s opposition and GOP control of the House of Delegates have halted progress toward launching the legal cannabis market, with no anticipated change in stance.

Rhode Island Cannabis Dispensary Challenges Labor Provision

A cannabis dispensary in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, is suing over the state’s recreational marijuana law, asserting that it violates national labor standards and the U.S. Constitution. Greenleaf Compassion Center’s lawsuit contends that the mandate for cannabis retailers and workers to participate in labor peace agreements infringes on bargaining power and employee rights protected by federal law.
