In Colorado, there’s a unique opportunity for motorists to elevate their high-country license plate to new heights. The Colorado Disability Funding Committee is currently hosting a license plate auction, set to conclude on April 20. Among the available plates are those with marijuana-themed phrases, including “HEMP,” “GANJA,” “GREEN,” “BONG,” “HASH,” “INDICA,” and “TEGRIDY.”
Previous auctions have seen significant interest, with plates like “X” selling for $20,000, “5280” going for $6,800, and “MCLAREN” fetching $6,000.
As of Tuesday morning, bids for this year’s plates have ranged from $440 to $6,440.
The revenue generated from these auctions is used by a committee appointed by the governor to support disability application assistance and fund innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life and independence of individuals with disabilities.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that the Colorado Disability Funding Committee is already planning a second annual 4/20 auction in 2022, as confirmed by a state spokesperson.
