Taiwan’s Economy Ministry has expanded its list of sanctioned goods for Russia and Belarus in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The move aims to prevent Taiwanese high-tech goods from being used for military purposes. The list includes equipment for semiconductor manufacturing, chemicals, and medicines. Taiwan, although having minimal direct trade with Russia, has joined Western-led sanctions efforts. The new sanctions align with those announced by the European Union, the United States, and other countries, targeting items that could be used for both commercial and military applications. Export license applications for the listed goods will “in principle” not be approved.
