Berlin-based ecoworks, an AI-supported building retrofit provider, has raised €40 million to support the growth of its climate-neutral renovations solutions business. Founded in 2018, ecoworks utilizes AI-supported digital planning to design and install prefabricated facade and roof elements, enabling rapid apartment building retrofits to a NetZero standard. The company’s digital solution recreates buildings to design a pre-fabricated sustainable “skin” for quick installation. The funding comes as building renovation gains attention as a key climate change mitigation tool. Buildings contribute significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions, and renovating existing structures is crucial. The financing round was led by climate-focused VC investor World Fund, with participation from Haniel, KOMPAS VC, and ISAI. The funds position ecoworks to play a significant role in the upcoming European renovation wave. Almost 75% of buildings in Europe are considered energy inefficient, and ecoworks is well-positioned to benefit from regulatory demands for building renovation.
