Turkish Cryptocurrency Exchange Tomya, Sponsor of Hull City, Faces Fraud Scandal and Owner’s Arrest

CryptoTurkish Cryptocurrency Exchange Tomya, Sponsor of Hull City, Faces Fraud Scandal and Owner's Arrest
The Turkish cryptocurrency exchange associated with the sponsorship of Hull City, Tomya, is embroiled in a major fraud scandal, leading to the arrest of its owner, Yavuz Usta, and 24 others. Although specific allegations against Tomya are not yet disclosed, the case has garnered attention due to the exchange’s connection with Hull City, owned by local media figure Acun Ilıcalı. The investigation was prompted by a complaint from an investor who claimed to have lost $211,500 in a fraud scheme involving a Tomya employee’s introduction. This development follows Turkey’s recent crypto legislation efforts and the Thodex exchange collapse in 2021, demonstrating ongoing challenges despite the regulatory landscape.
