ESGGRI Introduces Draft Climate Change and Energy Standards for Consistent Corporate Reporting

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has unveiled new draft Climate Change and Energy Standards aimed at helping companies disclose their climate change transition plans and actions, as well as their climate-related energy transition initiatives. These standards are designed to enable consistent reporting across companies and industries, providing clearer communication to stakeholders on sustainability matters. The proposed climate change standard includes new disclosures on transition plans, emission reduction targets, progress, and social aspects of climate change, emphasizing just transition metrics. The Energy Standard focuses on energy consumption reduction, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sourcing. The consultation on the new drafts will run through February 2024.
