Ohio voters have approved a ballot measure legalizing recreational marijuana, making it the 24th state to do so. Supporters campaigned for regulating marijuana similarly to alcohol. While marijuana possession remains a federal crime, President Joe Biden has announced pardons for prior simple possession offenses, and the Justice Department is taking a hands-off approach in states with legalization.
