The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Indonesia has uncovered a money laundering case linked to Sindur Mount Prison in East Java, involving an estimated value of up to IDR 80 billion.

The investigation revolves around a suspect with the initials SD, also known as HK or AB, who is an inmate serving a sentence related to drug crimes at Sindur Mount Prison. There are two additional suspects identified by their initials: SF and SW.

According to the findings, SD has been involved in money laundering activities since 2014. He allegedly received funds from the sale of drugs through SF, who provided IDR 10,541,000,988, MGM, who contributed IDR 392,670,000, and SW, who supplied IDR 25,431,900.

To conceal these illicit transactions, SD used various methods, including the acquisition of valuable assets such as ten houses in different areas, ten apartment units in Tangerang with a total value of IDR 70,906,050. Additionally, he possessed three cars, 11 mobile phones, 20 laptops, and one luxury watch, amounting to a total value of moving assets worth IDR 953 million. In total, the BNN confiscated assets valued at IDR 80,560,411,442.

The suspect is facing charges under Articles 3, 4, and 5 Paragraph 1 of Law No. 8 of 2010, which pertains to the prevention and eradication of money laundering (TPPU). If convicted, the suspect may face a prison sentence of up to 20 years and a fine of IDR 10 billion.
