EPA Offers $500 Million for Clean School Buses to Improve Air Quality and Reduce Emissions

ESGEPA Offers $500 Million for Clean School Buses to Improve Air Quality and Reduce Emissions

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the availability of at least $500 million in funding for clean school buses through the Clean School Bus Rebate Program. This second round of funding builds on a nearly $1 billion investment to improve air quality around schools, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote the development of clean vehicles. The program aims to provide cleaner air for students, bus drivers, and communities while addressing the health issues associated with diesel pollution. Priority will be given to applications that replace buses serving low-income, rural, and Tribal communities. Workforce training is an eligible use of program funds, and the EPA is providing technical assistance to help school districts transition to clean school buses.
