Human RightsEx-White House Adviser Stuart Seldowitz Arrested for Hate Crimes in NYC Halal Cart Incident

Former White House security adviser Stuart Seldowitz has been arrested and charged with hate crimes after a viral video captured him harassing a halal cart vendor in New York City. The victim, Mohamed Hussein, intends to sue Stuart for harassment and hate speech. Stuart, who served under President Barack Obama, was charged with aggravated harassment, hate crime stalking, stalking with intent to cause fear, and stalking in employment. In the video, Stuart made Islamophobic comments, referred to the vendor as a “terrorist,” and made offensive remarks about the Muslim prophet Mohammed. Despite apologizing later, Stuart’s actions have raised concerns, particularly given his former government role.
