Air India Faces Regulatory Action as DGCA Issues Show Cause Notice for Breaching Passenger Rights Regulations

KYCAir India Faces Regulatory Action as DGCA Issues Show Cause Notice for Breaching Passenger Rights Regulations

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a show cause notice to Tata-owned Air India for breaching passenger-centric rules in the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR). The regulator, aiming to enhance passenger rights and ensure global compliance, introduced CAR Section-3, Series M part IV in 2010. This section outlines facilities for passengers in cases of denied boarding, flight cancellations, and delays. Recent inspections revealed that Air India did not adhere to these provisions, prompting the issuance of a Show Cause Notice. This action follows a previous penalty of Rs 10 lakh imposed on Air India last year for similar non-compliance with CAR provisions on denied boarding.
