CryptoFTX Founder Sam Bankman-Fried Found Guilty in Historic Crypto Fraud Trial, Faces Up to 110 Years in Prison

Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has been found guilty on all counts in a trial in New York. Bankman-Fried was accused of stealing billions of dollars from FTX customers in a multibillion-dollar scheme. The jury reached its decision in just five hours after a five-week trial. Bankman-Fried faces up to 110 years behind bars, and sentencing is scheduled for March 28, 2024. The prosecution described the case as one of the biggest financial frauds in American history. Bankman-Fried, known as “SBF,” had quickly risen to prominence in the crypto world, turning FTX into the world’s second-largest exchange platform before its collapse in November 2022.
