The Financial Services Agency of Japan has published the “Action Programme for Corporate Governance Reform 2025” based on the discussion at the meeting of the Council of Experts Concerning the Follow-up of Japan’s Stewardship Code and Japan’s Corporate Governance Code (Chair: Hideki Kanda, Emeritus Professor, University of Tokyo).

This document shows future policy priorities to effectively implementing corporate governance reform by encouraging companies and investors to adopt self-motivated changes in their mindsets and promoting dialogue based on “a relationship of cautious trust” that truly contributes to the sustainable corporate growth and increased corporate value over the mid- to long-term.
